Hello,

I colleague has a 57' long canal boat hull with a vintage Armstrong Siddelney Engine with a bi directional gearbox. It is not fitted out. That's all I know. I am looking for guidance on where to advertise it. What web sites do purchasers of canal boats go to if they are looking for hull to fit out. Its not likely to go to a brokers. The guy who is selling it has space and facilities to handle this sort of size.

The hull is not in the water and is about 1 mile from a canal.

Your advice would be appreciated. Many thanks.

TBH I reckon his best bet would be eBay, although I quite liked Salty Sealine's suggestion (c:

Using words like "vintage" may fool some people into thinking that it's worth more, but most would probably read that as "old"

Best to go to the horses mouth - try Waterways World small ads.

Better still buy a copy and look at the classified ads for vintage engines. I suspect the engine is worth more than the boat, especially if it's wooden.

Another contact is Tony Renshaw at Braunston, I don't have a number unfortunately.

Do a bit of research and you'll get more for it than just binging in an ad: Folks out there are quite keen on old vessels - if they're the right type.

Do you have any more details, length, material etc?

True Blue - She is 57 feet long, all steel, not fitted out. Apparently the bow and stern are in good condition and some refurbishment work has occurred on the hull.

Forumites - many thanks for the contacts, I'll pass them on.
