Well we have not visited too many places so far on our cruising but what is the best marina / anchorage you have ever been to and why.

So far we have three.

1) St Kats because sailing down the Thames next to Tower Bridge is an experience not to be missed.

2) Vannes in France... A beautiful old town and the Morbihan is an experience all on it's own.

3) La Rochelle because of the view when sailing through the towers into the heart of a beautiful city.

What is a place you have been to that others should not miss?

I love the Isles of Scilly. It is like a miniature blue water cruising ground. It is challenging, rewarding, and absolutely stunning. Favourite anchorages are Green Bay on Bryher and tucked close in to the bay at Old Grimsby

Thank goodness you didn't mention The Cove, don't want other boats there!

In home waters -

St Michael's mount (after the tourists have gone)

The Cove at St Agnes

Port Vauban

And further afield -

Anse des Colombiers, St Barths

Portsmouth, Dominica

Marigot, St Lucia

Pointe du Bout, Martinique

Tobago Cays

Lexioes is horrible but worth it for a short tram ride to Oporto which is stunning.

I like ghosting up rivers in Brittany on a summer's evening, with a light following breeze; towards places like Pontrieux, Treguier, Lezardrieux etc.
Chust sublime.

Journo/blogger types always want to spread the word.

I say Mumms the word.

It's an adventure, there Re some wonderful unspoilt places for you to discover all on your very own, and shhhh:)

By the way that Cove place is terrible, rolly, insecure anchorage, dodgy power cable laid right through the anchorage and up over the sand, got me anchor stuck on a rock, full of Frenchies and dodgy fish ( allegedly), miles from a pub, no bus service, I dunno

So far: For a spectacular harbour entrance the maze of Granite Rose leading into Ploumanac'h takes some beating. For an anchorage I love the view of Chateau de Taureau anchored off Penn Lann (Morlaix) and the ride in on the tide through the rocks and islands - although its not the most sheltered of spots. The anchorage I always want to try,but has always been full when I got there, is under the Chateau in the bend in the river just before Treguier - it looks the perfect spot: sheltered and a glorious view.
Aiming to add a few further afield as soon as there's a break in this weather. Hopefully starting with some of thoise Scilly recommendations!

Of all the places we visited, for us it is Bimini in the Bahamas.

Not the north end, but the southern end of North Bimini (Alice Town) and South Bimini it's-self.

Fabulous water colors surround the beaches, and the Gulf Stream is teaming with game fish and sharks. There is also the Bimini Boa, the Shark Lab, the wonderful characters who live there and the legends of Hemingway and Juan Ponce de Lyon.
