No if you issue a Mayday or a Pan Pan pretty much any vessel in the area will come to assist you or the CG will task a lifeboat or helicopter.

Friends lost their gearbox recently in a flat calm, a vessel diverted to their position and took them in tow and they were under way in less than 30 minutes CG stood down receiving Hbr Mastr organised patrol boats to take over with an alongside tow and organised a suitably easy pontoon berth, what more could you wish for and no it wasnt in Lake Solent.

Shame on anyone who doesn’t think human lives (including children), in un-seaworthy rubber dinghies, without the necessary preparation or gear and in danger of drowning in major shipping lanes aren’t worth saving.

Well the IDIOTS get a free tow/rescue that decide to take to the water from france to the south coast on a overloaded inflatable tender with a 10hp outboard to push along 40 migrants in horrendous conditions fleeing from a war to the "safe haven" they call the UK, When they have passed through 10 SAFE COUNTRIES to get here!!!

......Yes let all the tax payers donate to the RNLI so they can use the money to "Rescue" and bring back a bunch of ILLEGALS with no money or identity so they can claim asylum and get a house, Benifits and buisness grants thrown their way but our own people are a second thought with unemployment figures skyrocketing and tens of thousands of small businesses going bust every year. Benifit sanctions left right and centre and more homeless than ever before and even working class people using food banks for christ sake!!!!

This country has taken this "Equality and diversity Bullshit too far now"!!!

Time we all woke up and act now before we end up slaves on our own soil!

We need to take a leaf out of New Zealand and Australia's book. (Look after your own first!)

You need to back off mate and take this elsewhere. Your post, and this comment is not about seamanship, or the RNLI - it is about you and your passionate hatred of these immigrants.

I've been in trouble at sea, and have helped others in distress. I've assisted the RNLI, and been assisted by them. I, for one, will not judge them by the race, colour or creed of those they rescue - often putting their own lives in harms way to do so. They have done so for hundreds of years, and I hope will continue to do so long after I'm gone.

Now stop your racist, nationalistic bull**** and go have a lie down.
