What is a Magellan DC/DC Converter?

When I bought boat the old Magellan 5000 GPS had been removed but this unit with No. 43-00003-001 on it remained. Does anyone know what it does? Do you think it reduces the voltage? It has two terminal underneath labelled 1 & 2 which someone has scratched - & + respectively. Any ideas? If I put 12 volts in what is likely to come out?

I'd guess your spot on, but don't expect much to come out the other end, the GPS needs very little power.

Why not stick a multimeter on and a get a reading.
