What HP for a 14\" Day Cruiser?

Hi - I've the chance to pick up a 14 foot motor boat that's going fo a song. The only thing is it's only fitted with a 10HP outboard. I can't help thinking this is a bit underpowered. I'd be interested to know what the more experienced among you think. Is there an easy way to work out power requirements?
BTW it's a planing hull!

10hp is a bit low for a 14' boat although it will also depend on its construction and therefore displacement as to how it performs but I doubt it would plane with this engine.

You will probably need 25-30hp to make it plane successfully especially if there's more than one person aboard.

Tell you what if you've got a 30 or 40 lying about I'll do you a swap ;-). Thanks for the replies - I suppose all I was looking for was confirmation.
