I don't know, some love it the cap'n and Stingo and obviously a few others, I didn't when I was there in the mid 80s. It's different that's for sure.

Yeah, not for everyone. Most people think of the West Indies as it, but there's stacks more.

But it's not an easy place. Sailing is good, some islands a bit pricey but not everyone feels.....comfortable. Living aboard, we obviously weren't in big hotels or expensive restaurants. Lots of anchoring, the dinghy is your car.

However we had fab times in all sorts of places and met people we are still in contact with now. There's politics behind it all that may cause some discomfort plus some folk aren't happy with skin colour. It can be hard yakka and frustrating clearing in and out at every place. Plus the various charges to thin your wallet out. Me, I don't care so it was great.

One of the best bits for me was being able, almost on a whim, to up anchor and sail to the next island. Some were hard to leave no matter how many visits.

I think that as with any cruising, you get out what you put in, so it's attitude that's most important. Plus, of course, not liking a place is fine too. Each to their own. (y)
