I only leave the place for two or three months, and coming home yesterday after leaving Breskens at 5am arrive at Pye End a couple of hours before LW. All is well as we come in with about 2.2m, much as expected, until we see that someone or other has moved the green buoy near Stone Point. It seems to be a good idea to go round the buoy until we find ourselves in only 1.5m, which just happens to be the depth of my keel. There's not a lot of water up near Titchmarsh either.

Has someone been messing around with my channel?

Last Monday I went aground between High Hill No 4 and No 6 entering the Backwaters about 2 hours before low tide. Note that I was inside the channel with a depth reading of 13ft when we stopped. Appears to be a spur of mud from Pye Sand just WSW of the deepest part of the channel. I'd reinforce general advice to keep well away from the red cans at lower water.

Bit of a shock. Good job I have a big fat boat with an equally big fat engine - there is now a newer, very narrow channel which I very much hope to see marked as "Saguday Cut" in the next edition of the East Coast Pilot
