Most sports get you fit or even put a meal on the table , what has boating done for you , is it even classed as a sport ?

Made me poorer

[/ QUOTE ] Given the reduced value of my, ahem, extensive portfolio of investments right now, the money that I've devoted to boating pales into insignificance......... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Never regret spending money on a boat, because you can always go out on it and have a beer, Smile maybe drop a line.

What good is money in the bank if you dont enjoy it?

Just explain how boating keeps you fit? Apart from pulling a few ropes, it's mostly about sitting down, loafing about, stuffing your face and drinking to excess
As for what it's done for me, you haven't listed the following
Made me fatter
Increased my cholestorol level
Emptied my wallet

Thats certainly my kind of boating /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What's it done for me? Let's see....

Made me lighter - As in there's nothing in my wallet anymore
Made me heavier - I think I got a bit of a beer gut during the summer, thankfully gotten rid of now

On a more serious note, it's given me a passion to be on the water, i've made great friends, had great fun, had lots of laughs, learned a lot and it's kept me a little fit to the extent of skiing etc. I reckon boating keeps me borderline fit during the summer as i'm swimming any day i'm on the boat, and when we pull up at islands etc. i'm cutting/lugging wood around the place for the fire

it got me on a delivery trip as crew on a sealine f37 from san remo italy to alcudia via barcelona on mirror like sea state with dolphins around bow all expences coverd a couple of yrs ago for sealine. keep dreaming about even now. bored loads of folk to near death telling em!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try driving a RIB across the channell at high speed in a chop and see how fit you feel at the end! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Its got me more amourous moments than ever I got in a car, from on the Thames in a Broom, on ski boats in Devon and Dorset, to on the sunbed of a sports cruiser in the middle of the fjord at midnight as a large freighter steamed by luckily it was almost dark... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Various north sea ferries..
In various harbours, and at various anchorages and on idyllic islands in Scandinavia with my cabin cruiser, as well as while 'on test' in a boat.
A Hobie Cat in Key west... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
The ladies just seem to love getting their kit off while afloat especially Norwegians and Swedes! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gifThey often asked if they could 'christen' my boat. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif :

You have missed the bit before stuffing your face and drinking to excess

The Trolley Dash

Arrive France, race off to book your favourite restaurant.
Race back to rinse off salt ( VP owners also read as soot)
Then race off to Hyper Market for that all important trolley dash

Load trolley as high as you can with Champagne, Bordeaux, beer and chocolate for the wife. Stuff a French stick and Pate in for lunch.

Now the 2 mile obstacle course back to the marina with overladen trolley.

The Ramp

Now what , its low tide
The ramp is 2 in 1 decline,
The trolley has 50 cwt of valuable cargo
You have no chance of stopping this lot on that ramp
despite your short sightedness the local Goths followed your trail of sweat the last 100 m and are eagerly waiting for your next move..........what now skip ?
