UK\'s top divorce lawyers

with regard to ray Parlour, and Macfarlane cases, the silks involved were from http://www.1hc.com

No mention that they are membrs of any special associations very much, nor that they do the slightest teeny bit of legal aid. But they do seem to win, and ex-members include appeal court judges who specialise in family law (eg LJ Thorpe)

So, probly best to give them a call asap for them to sort it out the second anyone mentions "divorce".

My own advice is NOT to accept coffee during any meeting with such lawyers, cos the extra time taken for people to drink coffee during the meeting costs about 500 quid...

oh and so much for this forum being a load of pooh! hm? Cos the guys above aren't just top 10% - they're #1 with some bigger cases actually instructing different silks both from that chambers (eg lambert v lambert)

But probly irelevant and a bit too£££ if not worth enuf loot like a few million to divvy up. But the orig poster did say that the guy is "wealthy "

Re: The advice was specific to the case

I'm not a lawyer (my wife is) , and I'm not small minded either - My language was a bit incorrect on the last point - I meant to say that just because you are a lawyer in the US does not automatically make you legal to practice in the UK as well, or something like that. I guess you could jump through both sets of hoops to get a practicing certificate and whatever the US equivalent is, and i've not heard of it being done - but I guess its not done too often in the "high st" law business. I'm suprised that people do it, and i guess there are reasons for certain businesses, but i'm not sure what the benefit would be as there are a number of requirements to keep a UK practicing certificate in terms of courses attented etc. etc. Mind you having seen the hours put in by some of our friends who are commercial lawyers in the city I wouldn't be suprised if they can find time to do everyting!
