What epoxy? Any recommendations

Hi, any recommendations for a good cheap epoxy and where from? Thanks

I think that is an oxymoron !
EastCoast Fibreglass are usually good, and lots of info on their web page about different epoxy. I guess it somewhat depends on whether you need 250ml or 250 litres? For smaller stuff, postage might eat up any savings against the local store.

It totally depends upon what you actually want to do with it.

The best epoxy I have ever used, by far, is JB Weld Liquid Metal ..... and it's cheap because you don't need to use much of it, but that might not be what you need at all.

  • Gelshield
  • Araldite
  • Chemical Metal
  • Unibond plastic repair
  • Unibond wood repair
  • Gorilla epoxy
  • Epoxy resin
  • Epoxy primer
  • Milliput epoxy putty

All good stuff, not exactly interchangeable though.

I recently got some Axson Epolam 2017 General Purpose Epoxy supplied by MB Fibreglass. Have not used it yet but was reassured that it is Lloyd's approved. It was also the cheapest I could find.
East Coast Fibreglass Supplies has a guide on epoxy resins which is worth a look. As with most resins you can choose between a standard (slow) or fast hardener. For a more comprehensive guide on epoxy resins go to http://www.westsysteminternational....rt-guidance-for-specialist-epoxy-applications.

I have used about 7 different makes of epoxy resin and the one I like best is from Fynne Boat co in the lake district. It is a solvent free resin with a 2:1 resin top hardener ratio so easier to mix accurately. Does not go off too quick, no amine bloom and is really hard when fully cured.None of them are cheap!
