With a long forecast NW on Friday night and a SE on Sunday forecast duly set off on a channel poodle expecting the marinas to be full t'other side as it is still August. Aborted Fecamp as we were due to arrive in 20kts NW at Low Water Springs so went to St Vaast. Saw no other ychts but had a safe but rollercoaster ride in up to 25kts until the flood flattened the sea off Barfleur at breakfast. Gloroius sun for the rest of the day. Got in and visitors pontoon 50% empty and apart form a couple of Mobos from Lymington no other Brits turned up -still plenty of spaces at gate close time.
Came back, flat calm to start with but got the spinny up in the daylight and had a great few hours blasting along in the SE, but again saw absolutely nobody else.
St Vaast was 36euros so its still a lot cheaper than Solent Marinas plus everybody got lots of good valure wine. With the weather having been forecast since last weekend I was surprised we did not see others doing the same. What was I missing, TV sailing coverage in Greece?
