Main probs are walk around not as I'd like & no side doors to wheel.

Otherwise looks lovely. Engines are a bit big at 2 x 600hp.

It can come in 1, 2 or 3 cabin.

American company but taken over by Turkish company and built Turkey ?

Getting more confuded the more I look !

Hmmmmmm

What colour do you call the hull? Looks a tad sickly to me.

Graham

btw - can you have too bigger engines?
Well in that brochure pic the hull looks kind of red but I'm sure blue would be more normal.

I was looking for a boat that could pretty much go anywhere & not so concerned with top speed. Max 20 and cruise 15 would do. So if engines bigger than necessary just loads of extra servicing costs.

Vicem is a Turkish company, with strong marketing activity in the US as it has a big market share for its traditional looking range of boats offering lobster, sportfish or classic commuter style from about 50 plus up to close 100 feet

have always heard good things about them....
for your guidance they are built in cold molding method, meaning wooden structure with wood stringers and plywood then covered coated in glass with epoxy, this should give GRP maintance costs with the benefits of wood
what I hear is that this is much strong and lighter to any GRP construction around including modern coring methods, plus the benefits of wood like its superior flexing ratio and no dead water smell inside
the downside is the time wasting to build such a thing which for a 50 feet would be around 1 year, depends how much tooling you have ready

Virtual Tour Vicem 52

Thanks for pic Pks1702.

I've been googling the Vicem 52 loads last couple of days and am falling in love.

I need for there to be a demonstrator at the Genoa boat show and for them to do me a MASSIVE discount AND take my boat in Pex.

For people who like this style of boat virtual tour here

http://www.vicemyacht.com/virtual_tour/v52/

I could buy this boat for the engine room & lazerette !!

while at Genova you might look at other alternatives, may be with a more competitive price
like the Estensi Goldstars
it is not cold molded built but the Vicem is more money, you can also have a look at the other Turkish built Liberty Yachts, surely much cheaper these
other lobsters to look at are Mochi, Franchini, Abati, Toy Marine, Rose Island, and Solare all Italian built, and definitly the US build Hinckley, San Juan, Grandbanks Eastbay, Sabre, Hunt Yachts, Mainship Pilot range
definily you will get confused in Genoa with all the lobster offers there

actually a Hickley costs more to a San Juan I think about +30%

the Toy Marine from Italy is also nice looking, a bit similar to a San Juan too
we have the San Juan 48 in Malta owned by a French guy, a fantastic traditional cruiser

JMMT while Flemmings are very nice I suspect someone who is looking for a traditional lobster looking boat like Petrolia will not consider them, as they are more of an Explorer Yacht type altough they do have traditonal lines

Go anywhere boat

I like the Fleming55 as well !!!
But ideally I would like my next boat to be able to go almost anywhere ! So Fleming fly bridge limits inland cruising.

With the lobster type I thought it might be near a go anywhere boat.

I've been drawing up a wish list for the 'Go almost anywhere boat'.

50-55ft
VERY seaworthy
Min cruise speed 12knts
Long range (preferably 2000nm)
Low air draft
Relatively self sufficient (genny & watermaker)
Safe walk around decks
2 cabin min + galley down
Double forward facing seats
Side doors to walk around
Good storage / lazeratte
protected stern gear
Possible 'take the ground'.

Any more ideas ?

Nordhaven ?

Go anywhere in salt water yes. But what about the air draft ?

Although I can appreciate the Nordhavens seagoing ability and self sufficiency I forgot to mention that I would also like my new boat to be different and beautiful. Which in my opinion the Nordhaven isn't. Well not beautiful that's for sure.

Maybe a better option is to get a go anywhere at sea boat and cruise in that for a few years then swap it for a go anywhere inland boat and cruise in that. I was just hoping for a boat that could do both. Does that boat exist I wonder ?

the problem would be draft
as most of these modern lobster boats interpretation have quite deep draft of above 1 metre, minus the Hinckley when equipped with jet propulsion which comes just about a metre
they are surely not inland waterway boat, altough if there is the draft they can do this
another note is that most if not all have planning hulls accept for the Italian built Premiere which has a patented hull which does not have a hump effect and go well in any speeds
