What do you do with infill cushions and boards?

Our Merry Fisher 695 has infill cushions and boards to convert the U shaped seating in the bow to a double berth, there are cushions and a board to convert the dinette to a berth and there is an extra cushion to convert the cockpit seating into a sun pad.. So we end up throwing them all into the seating in the bow to get them out of the way but that makes the whole area unusable..

I have worked out how to put some up against the hull in the bow forming a back rest but there is still a pile of boards and some cushions.. I thought about putting it all into the space under the floor in the pilothouse area but it would bounce around and if any water ever got in there they would all get wet..

So what clever ideas have you come up with for storing the extra cushions and boards?

Is the infill board in the dinette are not the table? It is on our MF645. We just leave the tablein place permanently ( although there is just the two of us so may be different for you).

The dinette berth uses the table and an additional section of wood plus the cushions.. I have used the cushions as back rests down in the front but still have the piece of wood floating around (plus the other bits for the front berth and the sunpad conversion)..

Going to have to sit with it I think and see if I can find a place for them.. Pity Jeanneau didn't create a slot in the dinette area step that could live in all the "extra" bits.. There is definitely enough space behind there for all of it..

If it's any consolation buying a larger boat will not solve the problem.

You will only put more gear on board and need even more space.

We have extra cushions for table to convert the U-shaped seating. The table seemed too large to easy get in and out of the seating so replaced it by a smaller, trifolding teak table now storing the original table & cushions at home :encouragement:

As guests staying overnight normally are invited, we have time to prepare (also for other stuff, filling the fridge etc,).
The boat is 10 minutes from home so getting things we forget isn't an issue, the above just never was one anyway.

That might be the simple and quick fix for this season.. Will give me more time to think about a solution for storing on board..

Designers really should provide places for these "extra" bits to store away neatly when not in use.. :)

My advice would be to work out exactly what you will use on a regular basis and take the rest home and put in the loft, many boats have huge sun pad cushions for the bow coachroof ok for monte carlo not sure about the solent so something else to store.

I have the same problem on my Finnmaster 61CA, so I store the rarely used cushions and infills at home which, luckily for me, is only 10 minutes away.

Hmm.. So sounds like the general practice is to leave them at home.. Guess that is the easiest option so will probably go with that for now.. I suppose if they are dry and maybe in a tied up bin liner or something there should be no issues for any number of years in "storage"..

After the kids moved out we transformed a room to 'general storage'. Things that would suffer from storage in shed or garage are kept here - like paint, all stuff from boat over winter (it is completely emptied), various preserved/canned foods et al..

Before that cushions were stored under beds when not in use.
