Hi,

I need some of those U shaped metal things that you put around thin materials so you can screw self tapping screws into them. The sort that often used to come packaged with after market car speakers (they may still do). Does anybody know what they are called so I can find where to buy some?

regards

Thanks all. Seems they are called anything but 'U clip'. Will have to see if my local chandlery sells them as I only need 3 or 4 rather than 130!!

Seateach in Emsworth are good for loose fasteners but I've no idea if they will have these loose

Years ago when I was young and cheeky if I needed a small quantity of items like that I would find the manufacturer and phone the up pretending I was designing a product the needed 1000's of then and ask then to send me a sample.

In a more general sense, if there was a 'picto-glossary' that labelled all those fiddly little bits that you're never sure what the name is.....

So many bits and pieces on a boat.....if you could see a little picture and then the name underneath, I'm sure it'd be useful to lots of duffers like myself - somebody must have thought of this before?
