What currency to take for Croatia?

A few euros won't harm, but only kuna are universally accepted. Rates are better in Croatia than you're likely to get in the UK.
It's well worth checking what rates and charges your cashcard offers at ATMs: this may be best of all, but they vary considerably.

Send me your bank account details including PIN numbers, and I will transfer 10million kuna to you, which you inherited but nobody could track you down.

I suggest getting a pre-paid currency card, such as CaxtonFX

What are the perks?

I was in Croatia in 2009 for a week, 2011 for 3 months and 4 months in 2013. I used Kuna for most things. As another has said Euro is used for 'big' purchases in Marina's.
