What practical course(s) is recommended to get after PWB L2. I have 5 years experience under my belt and feel confident at the helm.
Our Boat is 28 foot with a cruising speed of 30-35 knots. Being based in Brighton we want the option to sail over to channel isles and northern France for the first time.
I have no real interest in sailing so want to keep it relevant to mobo if poss. Main objective is to have the tools to be able cope with situations to keep my family as safe as possible whilst we are having fun.

That you say you feel 'confident at the helm' suggests to me (rightly or wrongly) that you do not yet fully appreciate the importance of skippering - managing the crew and the passage - rather than just handling the boat.

The RYA Yachtmaster scheme is, in my experience (on the saily side), very good on that (alongside refining boat-handling skills and knowledge). It's confidence building, and good fun to do, too!

Good luck, and happy boating, with whichever route you take.

In my experience it is not just about courses but confidence , experience and advice. Often the best way to gain this is hire a professional skipper for your first cross channel cruise or join a Power Boat magazine cross channel cruise in company or another experienced family doing the crossing..BTW if choosing a skipper check references well as many have lots of qualifications but not so many sea miles and experience of teaching.
