what can i paint my hull with

Hi, I am currently doing up an old plywood cruiser and feel that the hull could do with some sort of decent, waterproof coating before i put on the antifouling. I dont (and cant afford) to epoxy the whole thing, so does anyone know of any paint product that will give me a tough, small scratch/blemish filling, layer to my hull.

Unfortunatly the best paint used to be called "lead paint".

Now you should choose a good marine undercoat,for the hull and then perhaps barrier coat below the waterline before antifouling.

I should add that once its on its very very hard to remove,think carfully before deciding and remember, paint is not a filler!
