I'm lookign for a motor boat 30ft or under that can do all the following:-

Sleep 4 but two in comfort
Must have 2 diesels
Must cruise at 10kts but would like 15kts
Must have a Gas cooker and usual style Loo
Prefer shaft drive but outdrive is ok
Fuel consumption needs to be around 10 - 15 GPH fro both engines together.

Must be ok to cross the channel.
Must have some outside deck area but helm must be under some cover but does not have to be closed in.

And finally needs to be under £17k

Any ideas..???

Thanks.

I've had a look at these already and the accom inside is too small.

They are really only a weekend boat and i'd like something that can have a seperate bed from the seatign and eating area.

As has been suggested, you simply won't get that for £17k so either halve your requirements (one engine, 2 bunks) OR double the ante. I went down this path myself two years ago!

I think you might be surprised at whats around. There are plenty around for between 10 and 15k and that meet what i want.

But i'd like to hear from people who own such things.

Wots a usual style loo ?
Could suggest Coronet Oceanfarer but one that old at that price will need a shedload spending on it to go offshore in confidence.

What i'm really after are thougths, views, experiences of owning and operation this type and style of boat. I'm coming from sail to power so any advice would help.

OK thoughts

firstly some are a little out of the initial price range!

secondly there are a lot of very non standard boats here - typically older boats that have been reengined with small diesels - planning hulls without the power to plane are going to be a bit rolly and, as you will know, a potential handfull with a serious following sea.

coronet is the shortest but will be quite volumous - getting to the foredeck for anchor and lines may be a challenge.

picton really should have bigger engines!

alicraft ?????

Sandbanks - all about condition but the most balanced craft there overall. also more in the price range. if I was spending this amount I would go for a for boats recomended by Boatone if I was looking for a costal cruiser.

On boats of that age, I would ignore all the cosmetic stuff and concentrate on; engines, outdrives/gearboxes, fuel tanks, canopies, so out of your selection buy the boat with new engines, new outdrives, stainless fuel tanks and a new canopy, doesn't matter which one!

Thanks,

Nice boat from what i can see so far. I might take a look at it.

It's amazing what you can get for your money if you look around.
