sorry sorry sorry for the frustratingly reapeated question on the forum but as the boat show is looming and I have a budget of around £50K to spend, a little more if I get a top up loan.. I thought it a good idea asking the folk of the mobo forum advice on alternatives to a Sealine S28. Are there other reputable boats with similar layouts within my reach that would retain their sale value?

I am bound to get 2ft syndrome within a couple of years so the S28 seems a good option until I become a kept man with Deb's starting her new business that'll see us alright for larger boats in future:D..

key factor is ease of selling on in future whilst giving us something we can cruise further than we have done so far in the meantime i.e. we'd like to go beyond the Solent

ta v much, Gary

SC35....go on...you know ya wanna :D

most definitely.. we stopped by yours when looking at Pathfinder (an S28 in HP we walked away from)... your SC35 is something to behold! could get the little version, the SC29 at a push but that's the point, we don't really want it to be at a push and would prefer to spend the disposable income on go juice getting us to places of interest

What about something like this:

450x500

Its older, true but has the bonus of having two separate sleeping cabins plus the saloon, which to my mind is a real boon and puts it up a level. Also, the targa hull will be a bit more sporty than the S28.

Your trading age for pedigree a bit.

Also, this particular one looks to be in super condition, and should be pretty safe from a resale point of view as well. Should be got for your budget without a top up loan which in this day and age is desirable imo.

Hi Gary
Go for the biggest you can afford, with sealine you get a lot for your money, with your budget I'm sure you can get more than a s28.

You should've jumped on, grabbed a coupkle out of the fridge and put your feet up Gary. Wise about not pushing it tho.

Or if you want to go bigger this looks like a great buy:

450x500

On for £70k, but its a stock boat so they will negotiate. Also will come with a warranty etc. Real step up from an S28 with 2 proper sleeping cabins and a big saloon.

that's looks awfully like a Sessa Oyster Deb fell in love with that was berths in East Cowes... went up on Ebay at the time for less that the current sale value if I recall correctly.. thanks for the link:cool:

thanks for the advice and as I understand it, it's based on the theory of reducing the cost of change but I think we're going to have to take the hit in this instance.. some spare cash needs to be retained to get Deb's business off the ground but on the basis that come the time to change in a couple of years, we should in theory have more disposable cash so that'll be the time to make the big jump I reckon

its a stock boat so they will negotiate. [/url]
It's brokerage Jez, not stock. But I agree your line of thinking. Sessa looks very nice (the photo looks E Cowes oGaryo tho you'll know better than me) Avoiding an intermediate step on the boating ladder and going A-C not ABC normally makes £££ sense so long as Gary is sure he's intending to move up that ladder. Interest on a £10k loan is less than the gear you'd buy when changing boats and way less than the broker commission selling (and at this size oGaryo, you're at least potentially moving to broker territory when you come to sell)

Gonna sort of disagree with a few responses.
Its just a boat, keep it in mind and keep it well out of any future financial plans worries concerns.
A to C does make great sense as long as C iswithin easy reach.
If it was, I guess you would move to C now anyway
Having a boat you can use rather than have to justify is the way to happiness
If be is a stretch dont go for C.Berthing, fuel, repairs ..it al leaps up.

yep, I reckon it's E Cowes and the name of the boat rings a bell too from the previous adverts.. a little concerned either way as either it's been purchased and they're in the process of 'getting rid' or it's been on the market for well over a year at a silly low price... both cause for concern.

btw... your bio suggests another boat in build thread on the way soon due for completion next March.. surely not?;)
