Went to the boat on Friday night and as I arrived the weather front hit.

Hunkered own for the night and it really started bowing a hoolie with wild wind and light penetrating rain.

At 2AM, top of the tide, the boat was exposed to the worst of it and was lurching around like a bucking bronco. The the rear line of the tender broke loose and it started banging against the side. Got up and went outside, quite warm, but horizontal rain. Re-tied the tender and went back to bed. Finally dropped off at around 5AM.

Up at 8 and found it still raining/drizzling. Kawasaki popped by and dumped more rubbish on my boat. By 4PM I decided to give it up for the weekend and headed into the rain for home.

Got to the other side of Conwy and found dry roads. Got home to discover that it had been overcast, dry and warm since Friday.

'Spose you soft southerners were basking in millions of degrees of heat.

Pah!

The never ending rain We have seemed to be suffering up ere has made driving, never mind boating terrible of late.
The municipal refuge dump, well I mean, the approaches are swamp like.
"The Tip" is 6 miles from My house.
Major Catastrophe's boat is only 3 Miles away.

No kidding. Sunbury Lock and indeed Nauticalia were places a gentleman boater about with his wife would get slapped for looking elsewhere. The worst of the bruises have gone down now:)

Major,
Came down with SWMBO on Saturday midday, still wet and windy. Pottered around in the straights for a couple of hours catching nothing (apart from a couple of bait stealing crabs).

SWMBO was miserable as sin and kept suggesting we drive home again (Sheffield! ).

Still.. stuborn optimism prevailed in the end and we had a reasonablely sunny Sunday and even persuaded a small dogfish to entertain us for a while.

Took a peek at the now famous lobster pot. Was tempted to leave a peaked captains cap on top of the pot but would probably not be forgiven by my daughter for parting with such a thoughtful birthday present !

Here's hoping for better weather

I noticed you were not around early Saturday. I took a chance as I could only afford one day off this weekend....and chose the wrong one. Sunday was very nice in Cheshire and I was locked away in the office, sweating in 85o indoors.

So you saw the scrap tip on the back of my boat. Did you peek under the tender and see the prawn pot Kawasaki gave me?

Anyway, he reckons it goes like this. I catch a badger, lightly kill it and stuff into the lobster pot. I get three strong people to lift the baited contraption and dump it in a suitable lobster/crab bearing area that is hopefully unknown to the local professional fishing community.

With my crew of muscle, I retrieve the pot the next day and sort out the catch. (Yes, honestly, he expects me to catch something)

I then pick out the crabs and poke them in the shells (!) to produce a semi tortured but apparently irresistible feast for my next victims.

I transfer the poked crabs to the prawn pot and dangle over the harbour wall for another night. The resulting catch of prawns will allow me to pick a nice juicy one.

I then prepare for sea, taking care make sure that the prawn does not perish, and head for the Bass fishing area. I then attach prawn to hook and cast overboard.

Open beer and wait for strike................

Hey presto! a nice fresh bass.
