You must be joking! Life is too short to sacrifice the few pleasures that T. B.Liar still allows us.

I am giving absolutely nothing, f.a., nowt, niks, rien, nichts, nulla, nada....

I'm going to stop buying bits of string for the boat- not sure how I'll cope.

What do people achieve by giving up things for Lent? Loads of people do it, but most of them don't do it for any religious significance. Is it just a way of saying " I have no self control for the rest of the year, but if I can link it to some religious event I must be able to stop for a short while." Is it about self sacrifice? Is it about putting on a show of giving something up? Is it just because everybody else does it and peer pressure? If we want to prove we can forgo a luxury, then let's prove it to ourselves but then keep quiet about it and not try to get some kick from letting everybody know about our "suffering"

I'm not trying to offend anybody who genuinely has faith, but I'm curious why everybody else does it. No personal dig meant Shakey.

I'm giving up being a forum lurker here and start posting. Its going to be tough as I haven't got alot to say on the best of days and I'm better at crashing boats than sailing.

A Trapper and broke a little a Beneteau 44CC... and lost the rudder on an other one, ripped a kite....... Owners of said boats I think have forgiven me.
