The engine is a D4 and the drive is whatever a D4 gets. VP list several different types of props on their web site for D3's and D4's. They clearly aren't ali and don't look stainless. Piccie for reference:

I'm sure its been discussed before, but cant find the thread. I Think they are some kind of alloy.

P.S. Interesting positioning for the windless /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Very common in Scandinavia where small tidal differences allow you to put the bow very close to shore, moor up and simply jump on land for that BBQ.... much easier to get onboard after as well..... actually is more common to have the windlass at the stern than at the bow in my home country of Norway.

Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin, not copper and zinc. You are thinking of brass, from which the zince does leach, leaving it pink and porus.

I think the D4/D6 uses stainless or aluminium bronze props (not phosphor bronze, as someone said, which is a bearing material).

It is an alloy Nibral (Nickel Bronze Alluminum) now usefd on all the D range of volvo out legs, much more resistant to corrosion than stainless and stronger than aluminium.

I agree, I think Nibral too, looks just like it.

Also, although unlikely, could be Titanium, maybe a tryout, would last forever in saltwater.

I'd expect them to go black ish after a while.

Quick scrub to remove the barnacles, and off you go again. Beats painting aluminum props!
