Planning on a trip to the Channel Islands for a couple of weeks starting this weekend. We'd like the option of a stop in France if it took our fancy. However, when gathering up all the required documentation I've discovered I can't find our VHF operators license which I believe we should carry.

So what are the chances of it being requested and do they impose a fine if we can't produce it?

I applied on line for mine and got one instantly, unless I am talking about a different licence why not replace it?

My experience of just last week showed that they were only interested in the SSR... now this may be because they already new about the infringement, I am pretty sure they have the methodology on board the Cutter for checking. They certainly came hurtling across for their €150...

If that had been in order then maybe they would have looked elsewhere for their euros. No other documents/items were checked and they only had a scant look-around, even replacing a sealed container onto it's shelf when they understood the label as "pencils"

Worst part about it was the order to leave French waters.. this could have been immediate but after a chat got a 4 day stay of execution! not good, lesson learnt
