What are the chances of that happening?

Thought I would change the impeller yesterday. 5 minutes work with a Speedseal fitted - if that. Just before leaving I thought I would just run the engine to check everything was ok. As I pressed the button and the engine fired, it also gave an enormous 'sniff' like someone with a big nose and bad cold - and no water. Checking the strainer - old fashioned type made by that well known yacht chandlery:mad: company the Southend Engineering Company - and it seems that the moment I pressed the button a clump of weed was passing by the water inlet and got sucked up. Bit of unlucky chance that!

PS still can't get the images to work properly

Yes, sorted quickly. Mark 1 screwdriver down through the strainer and a bit of a prod and it was clear. The old fashioned set up is quite nice. The top of the strainer is just below water level so the flow is quite 'calm' - and a bit of salt water in the bilge is nothing new to TG!

Thanks for the medical concern, Hades. You should see the pills I'm on to get them looking that good!

PS: When I try to plant the image files, the thing says that the Jpegs are not valid files. Beats me. Used to work once!

I had a similar problem last year on the heads! Couldn't get any water intake and fiddled and messed for a night, and did nothing... next day a few strands of green slimy stuff appeared in the bog, and it all started to work...

That's waaaaay more information than we needed

Make sure you uncheck the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" option... it's on by default but it's never worked for me when it's left checked..

This picture posting lark is getting to be a pain, sometimes I can get it to work but other times, no chance. Apparently it's an issue raised on other forums too but if you use photobucket and click the tab that has IMG next to it, this copies the code and you just need to paste it straight on here.

Testing testing
