Helping tidy up a friend's place and he has a lot of calor gas bottles. He sells stuff and gives proceeds to air ambulance. I will try to attach a photo but it may be too big.....he has some 15kg and the small dumpy ones. Possibly some gas. He needs an idea of value and i will place advert for him here or ebay. He would rather get rid of whole lot in one go - cant upload photos until i use his computer to make them smaller. Perhaps 10 cylinders in all. No idea how he has so many.

They sell pretty regularly on Gumtree - when you go to change them no-one ever checks if you have a contract with Calor.

I would ask £20 each.

EDIT: I think the Calor butane ones may be worth less.

When these come up at our local auction house, they say 'you are bidding for the gas, not the bottle'... - which presumably gets over the 'not selling' problem. As mentioned, they usually sell for about £20.

Thanks.
I will tell him gumtree as an option. He was going to scrap them, but i said sailors and campers use them. He just wants rid of them. But they seem to be worth money and he collects as much as he can for air ambulance. Cant see anyone buying the whole lot either unfortunately. I know one dumpy one is full of gas because i gave it to him years ago after a short holiday.

Perhaps an add in the For Sale section might get some interest.

I have three 907s for long trips, but might be interested in a bigger Calor Gas bottle as 'bulk storage'.

Thanks.

Don't scrap them. At least hand them to a dealer so they go back in the system. I can't see any one individual buying that number.

Thanks.

Can't you find a local sailing club to donate them to, on the understanding the proceeds will be split 50:50 between the RNLI and air ambulance?

I have bought two secondhand empty 4.5 kg butane bottles in the past. One was from the local tip, the other from someone on gumtree. Both were £5.

From what I have seen on these fora, there seems to be a scarcity of gas cylinders in the UK currently, so they will be of value to someone.

Cannot see how it’s illegal to sell them unless calor make a claim against you, most on Facebook are sold locally for about £10, I’ve bought 2 15kg to use as donor cylinders when swapped for full ones at calor dept

Hands up who has their original calor bottle sales agreement?
Not me . But I wonder if they will provide the minimum refund regardless of any paperwork.
If not then its not surprising there is a shortage of cylinders.

When my mate took his back with no paperwork, they took the bottle, said thanks for bringing it and goodbye, no paperwork no refund

I sold two small size calor cylinders a couple of months ago - £10 each.
Don't worry about the lease/own argument technically calor retain ownership but who's gonna check.
