Hi all
I've decided I can't stretch my money at the moment having copper coat on DaySpring hull we chosen are pontoon spot at mdl marina in Torquay the weekend and hopping we can be in the water for for the first time at the start of May.
I'm looking to go with other options, I like the idea of silicone 1 but there are no reviews of this product if googled.
My other option is to possible go for Premier paints antifoul as the MBR test they completed showed good results over the year. I'm interested in the premier 1 can anti foul paint in navy blue, it says good for speeds up to 40 knots, my sealing 230 top speed is 29 knots, but I have no intentions of doing that as we prefer to cruise around about the 17-23 knots.
After taking 6 months to remove by hand 7 layers of old antifoul paint from the hull I don't like the thought of having to re scrape the hull again in 3-5 years of antifoul, but washing the hull down in a few years sounds a dream. My position is she is all striped back to gelcoat and had two thick coat of Jotun Penquard HB epoxy primer.
So my question is can a motor cruiser get away with self eroding anti foul on our boats, or is hard anti foul the only option we have.
I don't want to use international paints as it so overpriced, other paints I have heard are doing well down Torquay are: sea jet, Hembel, Premier.
