My headlinings are vinyl, not foam backed, stuck to thin plywood. Some are coming unstuck around the edges. What adhesive can I use to stick them back, without it bleeding through and discolouring the surface?

I have the same. Hawke House sell adhesive for this called SAF-111 (I think it's 111 anyway but they'll know). Smells horrible but works very well.

Isn't the vinyl wrapped round the edges of the plywood and glued on the back of it? I have a few panels like that and just use any old contact adhesive like Evo-Stick.

I use(d) regular old smelly contact adhesive and stainless staples round the back, on strips of extra vinyl to ensure no push-through.

The thinner the adhesive the less likely to create an uneven surface

Thanks all. Not much chance of getting the SAF stuff here in Turkey, but an Evostick substitute is available. I have the staple gun and 6mm stainless staples but the main headlining panels are only 4mm thick and stuck with Velcro to the battens on the underside of the deck, so not much chance of using thickening strips. I guess I will just have to use the Evostick substitute.

Can't you just use the adhesive on the overlap that's behind the plywood? It shouldn't need much to get a good bond. Only problem would be if it gets very hot it might creep after a while.
