What to do about the Dutch & German Fresian Islands ?

Scoot on by that potentially inhospitable coast and get to the Baltic ASAP, or stay a while, do some exploring ?

I'd fancy visiting a few places on the way past. May never go by there again. Petrolia may be on a one way trip !

Any recommendations of places to visit or places NOT to bother visiting ? I really want to go to Helgo land. Just because of the name and apart from that how many people go there ?!

Yes, go. It depends what sort of thing you want from an island - beaches (very long, empty sandy beaches - in good weather - wonderful), bird-watching (loads), walks (very little (or no) traffic), bike rides (no hills, lovely long bike paths through the sand dunes and woods), mussels, herring... but if you want sight-seeing, crowds, night-life, posh restaurants etc then then are rather limited!
They are mainly holiday islands - relaxed, friendly. If you enjoy navigational puzzles, try the routes inside the islands, but buy the up-to-date charts and tidal atlas first - best to buy them when you get there.

My favourite in the NL is Ameland, but Vlieland is more popular (and full in holiday time). We've only been to 3 of the german ones so I can't really judge, but Wangerooge was a bit unworldly in a strange remote way. Read Riddle of the Sands before you go!

The Dutch Freisian Islands are great.
Lovely friendly people and good food, especially the sea food.
It would be a shame not to visit them if you are that close.

We sell many new and used Dutch boats and as such are often in the country............my advice is to go and enjoy it.
