Hi All,

Well we knew this weekend would be a tad busy for us as we were moving the old girl to her new home at Temple Marina on Sunday. Preference would have been Saturday morning but the good lady had invited friends round on Friday night "who would not stay late" so at 1 am Saturday morning we waved them good bye lol.

Spent Saturday buying new folding reclining chairs with foot rests and memory foam toppers for the boat.

Saturday night we had a friends 30th and again promised ourselves "we wont be late as we are moving the boat tomorrow aren't We well were the last to leave the hotel I think at 1am and crashed into bed around 2 am.

Surprisingly SWMBO managed to surface at 8.30 am and we started to get the food and drink ready for the trip from Datchet to Temple and for spending a lazy Monday on the boat.

Both still slightly tired, we loaded both cars with all the gear, one to be left at Temple, then drive to Datchet in the other and leave that there whilst we moved the boat. Good planning I thought two cars and one at each end of our trip

SWMBO was issuing instructions about me picking up some eggs and milk on my way and picking Luke our youngest up and all other stuff that I didn't really listen too.

So off I go in the car and get to the garage and my mobile goes, it's SWMBO don't forget the eggs. I wont I shout down the phone in a tired bad tempered sort of way. So pay for petrol, remember eggs and milk and even the papers and drive to Temple Marina to drop off the car and meet SWMBO, Who I grumble to myself is bound to keep me waiting 15 minutes even after I have had to stop to do the bloody shopping grrrr.

Arrive at Temple in a much better mood when I see how lovely it is again. SWMBO, already there was a surprise but she appears to be slighty irate and shouting at someone on her phone, must be the eldest lad playing up again I think getting out of the car. Then I realise she appears to be pointing at me and explaining in a furious voice to the now mystery recipient of her call that I am a bloody idiot and never listen to a words she says, hmmm less is more I think as I walk towards her across the car park. She turns on me with that I want to tear you limb from limb look that she has perfected over the years and I, still bewildered say "what, what are you panicking about now". She turns a very strange shade of purple which I now reallise is rage and screams, You forgot to pick up Luke from my mothers. Gullp..... attack being the best form of defence if you are a man in the wrong as we all know I said " you never said, why would I pick him up, you normally do that and at least I did not forget the eggs. My advice to anyone considering using the same tactic is don't, a nokia mobile to the head is quite painful /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

So lapsing into bad tempered silence we start the drive back to her parents house to pick the boy up, then to drive back to the mooring at Datchet and start the trip to Temple a full 4 hours later than we intended to.

Despite hiis grandparents attempts to cheer him up, Luke is decidedly not pleased

After enduring a 30 minute traffic jam thanks to the football in Reading and roadworks on the A33 to M4 roundabout, guess whose fault that was " if you had not forgotten your son we would not be here sigh sigh for 30 mins. Anyway a spot of lunch with his old Dad a huge desert and a cuddle Lukey boy has completely forgiven his Dad and now blames his mum for not telling me, arr that's my boy, amazing what the largest chocolate ice cream in Wndsor can achieve.

My plan to take pics all the way up to Temple to catalog our move gets forgotten in my attempts to make SWMBO smile.

We arrive at Boulters and help out a terrified couple in a hire boat, who Bray lock have warned Boulters lock were on their way and it made us feel better and the lockie was brilliant helping and advising them, hope they have a great week.

We get lucky at every lock and as we arrive at Temple lock the gates magically open for us as we approach and we nervously exit and turn Tristan into her new Marina in the evening sunshine, bliss, first thing is a glass of wine and the new chairs are ready to receive their completely knackered new owners

So the sun sets and we later retire feeling good that we have made the move and looking forward to a day exploring our new surroundings in the morning

Monday dawns a little cloudy and gray and Boat One kindly calls to let me know he is approaching temple lock and that No Regrets is in front of him. I stroll across to the lock and say hello to the guys and hear from Boat One that No regrets did pretty well at the TVR, we will definitely be there next year and hope you all had a great time. And thanks Boat One for calling me so I could pick up the item we have been trying to meet up for me to collect for so long, appreciate it.

I wave Boat One and No Regrets off as they head into the lock on their return trip and wonder if Boat One will ever manage to get the dog lead of his terriers leg or if it was a new method of securing him on board

We take a walk into Hurley and explore the local pubs in a village that looks like time has stopped still. Really beautiful area and I think we will enjoy our new base and for sure Luke loves it and especially the dogs at the Marina. SWMBO is pleased as its has stopped him pleading for one of his own for a while at least. I thought this weekend was not the time to repeat my oft said quote from Byron "every boy should have a dog, well" she still has that Nokia in her handbag /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

All in all a great weekend and here is to mopre sun and a great boating summer /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Thank you sir, and even the good lady laughed when she saw the post, after righteously telling me "I knew I had told you" /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif even she who knows all thought she may have forgotten it seems lol

Sounds very eventful! Saw you go past Cookham on Sunday afternoon, I tried waving frantically but we had 2 other boats rafted to us so only slightly difficult to see us! Had a great weekend, despire the rather dreary weather yesterday for our 8 hour trip back to base.
