Friend of mine bought a 48 year old steel boat and had her transported by road to Chichester Harbour, she was craned in last evening and we moved her round to the new berth.
The boat was originally a "fire engine" but has been converted to a comfortable cruiser.
The odd bit, two engines, three props!!
The main engine is a V8 Deutch diesel (air cooled) driving a single three bladed prop, about 10 knots flat out is the reported speed.
Then the second, a lister, again air cooled, driving two outer small props each with it's own gearbox.
The main engine control is a BIG single lever with a switch on the side to engage the gearbox. The lister controls are twin, forward, backward, with a seperate throttle.
It fell to me to move the boat some 40' long, from the lift in to the berth, just happy to report no dings or bumps due mainly to the fact there was no wind blowing!!
Will try to get some pics.
