Was out this morning in my Wayfarer taking part in the Dabchicks, West Mersea, New Years Race.
Weren't we lucky with the weather! Brilliant sunshine, just a nice breeze to get the boat marginally planing, and a very hight tide, combined to make an unforgettable day. Didn't see many more boats out, but just before our midday start a smal gaffer came in, I couldn't see a name though.
A brilliant start to 2010 - and no, we didn't win - 3rd, since you ask. A couple of youngsters in Oppis beat us on handicap! But they are alll in the National Squads and are out training and practising every weekend, all the year round, and it shows. The last time my crew and I sailed the Wayfarer together was the Round the Island in August...........
May all East Coasters have fair winds and bright sun in 2010.
