When I arrived at my boat yesterday afternoon the river was fairly high. It rained all night and by this morning the level had risen again by another 10 - 12".

I think my boat is about the just about the highest I've seen it this year - even after considering the very wet weather earlier this year. Plus I suppose there's more to come from field run off.

Also I discovered I hadn't cured my window leaks after all...

Just back from a run up to Beale Park.....the level was really high...lockies said it had come up very quickly as water was released upstream......at Mapledurham the lock moorings just downstream were underwater.

Up stream

I should have mentioned that my boat is at Lechlade. So what ever happens to the river level here will more or less happen to those downstream.

But I did think the lock keepers here were careful to hold the water back to avoid flooding Oxford. Is that correct? Because if so I don't quite understand why St John's lock at Lechlade is not on red boards yet.

Hourly Red Board updates coming out. River up a couple of feet below Shepperton Lock and changed colour so definately Detling Boat Jumble for wife and I tomorrow.:)

boards red coming up to hambleden late afternoon...........

I've heard that the search function on this forum isn't great. Could you post a keyword to help me please?

Simples -
Let your fingers do the wandering (or in this case wondering)
Click on T_L's name in his post above and you'll get a drop down box
In it there's a line saying some thing like "show all posts by T_L".
Mark you, there's an awful lot to wade through, most are very interesting so it's worth the effort.

Not a lot of people know that.....

We went to get some bits and pieces out of the boat yesterday evening. Normally we have to step down about a foot to climb aboard, yesterday she was level wih the walkway,

When you find it can you let me know how it works please . I cant be bothered to wade through 1400 hissy fits to find the answer to quite a simple question . :D

I couldn't find the post either but didn't you once describe the water behaving like hot toffee? I have only 15cm of bank left at Maidenhead before my hull starts grinding on the concrete path. It seems to have gone down slightly but think I should make an early start tomorrow and find a mooring upstream with a higher bank. My theory is I am in the trough of a toffee wave and need to get going.
