So,, started off awfull... but, as forecast, the rain disapeared and the sun started to come out... and we have a lovely f4-5 wnw which made for a great afternoons sail...

So... for all of you stuck at home or too lazy to get down to the boat...

here is a bit of dodgy home video....

Just to set the scene... entering the Eastern entrance of Plymouth sound wind is straight from the NW at f4/5 or so... and I have a bit too much main up..

Nice one:D, was the main back winding again. Not lazy:p had to replace an intergrated freezer in the kitchen which involved a considerable refit. A pain but Caroline is happy:).
 
Great video.

Not Lazy either, I am the stuck at home option. Well Stuck in Tbilisi for a couple more days, then off to Baku for 4 days.

Then off to the boat in Turkey for two weeks.:)
 
No, just happened to catch it as the wind shifted.... It was a bit shifty today...

I was running about 60 degrees off and then it came up... but then backed around again..... Thats why I trim in the foresail as well....

The wind was all over the place.. it was a hoot..

Was nicely thrashing a Contessa 26 and LM 30 up into cawsand earlier when it went up a notch or two and left me on my ear and reefing the foresail... caught them up.. gybed around onto a reach.. let out all the foresail... and blewem away.

nice SW swell running... went out a couple of miles past the western entrance and surfed all the way back in... the vid picks up just after I have put a few rolls in the foresail after losing it and nearly parking on the end of the breakwater!

Then You mention the wind is all over the place.
Then You have to faff about with more string pulling etc etc.
How do you get time for a G and T etc?

If you did , gimbled G and T holders or what?

I can go off people, you know,,,,


A five hour drive to London, including being beaten up by a trog towing a racing saloon (if anyone knows anything about a sponsor called "Owen Developments" I have some very bad PR news for them), to find the boat with one bat flattery, and my super secret piece of paper with my passwords encrypted on it has been eaten by spiders.

Quick call to offspring to rouse her from her tv trance, and she worked her way through the home desktop to download some emails and the even super secreter file with p/words trebly encrypted.

Then What happens ? I log on to the forum, and it's full of cheerful raggy and mobo types talking about F4 and sunshine, and videos and pix....

Not much encouragement chaps to someone landlocked in a mariner watching the Heathrow aircraft and the police helicopter go round and round in circles above me.

I want to know about hlb fumigating Conwy castle of mosquitoes from 500 yards away, about nathan sailing under an oil rig, about the Med Mob facing yet another dilemma of how to use the crane for waterskiing, about Lakey taking his 4x4 up Helvellyn, about complaints from the Solent Society re the ferries rescuing yet another unstable Mac, about...

I hate this bottle of Blandford Fly as much as I hated its preceding bottle of Golden Glory. What on earth possesses brewers to put ginger, or peaches and melon in a normal ale ? There ought to be a competition for the most unharmonious flavours that food chemists can foist on the unsuspecting public.

Tomorrow will be better. It's war on the spiders with the water jet. Tell PETA.

String is cheaper than Petrol/Deisel and last a lot longer
Loads of different coloured string.
That is just for show, we know what each bit of string should do, we colour code them just in case we have a stinkie aboard
Different No.s on the Saily bits.
Mobos have different numbers for their motors, we have the advantage of carrying a few different numbered saily bits, We do not need to carry a few spare Volovo Pentas

That was just the camera angle, we have one leg shorter than the other, when we change course, we just shorten our other leg

unfortunatey we do need wind, but it is about the only thing that GB has not taxed yet, we tend to chase it wherever it goes

now that is a secret, the saloon table usually has a gin bottle shaped cut out, we also have auto pilot too
If you did , gimbled G and T holders or what?
we are raggies, we do not need fancy gimbles, when the boat heels over we just drink from the other side of the glass

Yeah! Well, some of us were too busy manning the RNLI Sea Safety Stand at the Classic Boat Rally to be out there actually enjoying ourselves. Good day, though, with lots of people booking SEA Checks and bringing bits of gear along for advice. Cor, you should have seen the state of some of the lifejackets!
The afternoon was improved by a wedding aboard the classic yacht Charmian with all the males in full Cornish dress including kilts and later the blessing of the rebuilt Gypsy Moth III
