And how!!!

We'd just got back from a thoroughly enjoyable sail, sitting in the cabin, saw the event on our little TV, watching stuff to make you proud to be a Brit (for a change). And then the lads brought home the 4x100 gold!

A great day indeed...and the boxing to come tomorrow.

Now we are 9th in the table
1 United States 34G 38S 28B total 100
2 China 31 17 14 T=62
3 Russia 23 26 35 T=84
4 Australia 17 16 16 T=49
5 Japan 15 10 11 T=36
6 Germany 14 15 18 T=47
7 France 11 8 12 T=31
8 Italy 9 10 11 T=30
9 Great Britain 9 8 12 T=29
and when you think the of difference in population and land size we haven't done too badly at all.
What would be interesting to know is how much Lottery money was allocated to each of the events (sailing, rowing, cycling, athletics, kayaks etc) in relation to the medals won.

Kelly Holmes and the relay boys ran a stunning race and full credit to their trainers and backup teams for preparing them to peak condition both mentally and physically at the right time, maybe other members of Team GB should take note?

I hope they are having one hell of a party tonight

Theres a great article in the sunday times about that today. Cycling gave best value for money then yachting.

Thats obvious in terms of the extensive TV coverage they both had.

Track & Field were very poor value for money and this was ofc equally reflected in the TV Coverage.

(And now with tongue out of cheek!)

Also in the Telegraph on saturday an article on the standard of commentary except for 2 commentators ( Steve whateverhisnameis & Clare Balding) all others seem to have a policy of 'dumming' down.

Well we knew that as everyone has been griping on about it on here for the duration.
