Had a stag party from Staffordshire on board for the weekend.

What a difference to your speed, 2 tonnes of extra personnel makes.

Normal cruising speed, at 3,300 revs 15 knots, was down to 10 !

I never realised weight made THAT much of a difference.

Glad I don't run a ferry !

Only to a planing boat, you could put 10 tons aboard mine and she wouldn't notice.

If my faithful calculator has served me well:
2 tonne = 4480 lbs
14 lbs - 1 stone
Therefore you had an extra 320 stone, or @ an average 15 stone per person, you had 21 people on board.

Apart from the requirement of a licence for > 12 (?) of course the poor old thing is going to go a bit slower !!!!

Perhaps not quite 2 tonnes. I had 17 people on board my little Astinor but they all seemed to fit in somewhere. It did seem like an awful lot of weight, though. And, then there was the weight of all that beer they consumed ! ! !

How much does a keg of beer weigh?

I once had 23 folks on board having a party up the river Severn. They took turns at driving. Trouble was, most of them were banana boat owners, so were very interested in practicing with the throttles!!
