Well, chilled Friday pm at home and even threw a very decent curry together. Chilled Saturday morning and got to Bradwell 2ish to get sorted and catch a bit of the flood up river. Ben has been listening, he so has, and was quite fantastic taking the tiller, we called the tacks together and it wont be that long before he will be capable of doing it all by himselfl - it was a joy. Lovely to see Roger and Shiela on the way up river (they were coming back towards Bradwell, well towards us at one stage /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) tho the Osea anchorage was just a little too blowy so we retreated and picked up a buoy at Marconi, courtesy of the indesputable world champion fore-deck team otherwise known as Tanya and Oliver. Went ashore and BBQ'd on the shingle watching a fantastic sunset. The outboard decided to pack in so out came the oars for 2 trips - mmmmmmm, must service the outboard. This morning was about more chilling, dunking the children in the water from the bosun's chair off the end of the boom, doing a few knots with the crew (Hannah now does a mean figure of 8 and a clove hitch), hoisting Oliver up the mast to feed a second flag halyard (Pirate weekend /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) and enjoying the sun, as was this afternoon when we dropped the anchor off Osea and just watched the world go by, entertained by Little Ben as ever, until it was time to leave and take a very gentle sail back to Bradwell. The children were all fast asleep well before we got to Chelmsford /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

I am so sorry if this sounds a little over-indulgent, but we have just had an absolutely brilliant weekend - it really was that good.

I hope yours was good too.

We took a non boaty friend for a long promised sail on saturday ["you must come for a sail, one day"].
We did Burnham-Buxey-Paglesham- Brandy Hole-Burnham, non stop, about as many miles as you can do without going out to sea. Lunch & afternoon tea on the go. Our visitor sailed nearly all the way, including through the moorings at Burnham & Fambridge, a natural. We eventually had to prise his hands off the tiller.
All rounded off with dinner & Adnams in the White Harte.
A day that will be hard to beat.
 
Not self indulgent at all.
We only managed to get out early on Sunday morning but sailed from just above the Orwell Bridge to Shotley Spit with Main and Mizzen up plus either Genoa and Staysail, Genoa only or Crusing Chute only up front.
It was good to get the cruising chute out again.
Hopefully someone was on the Orwell yesterday and took a piccie.
Unfortunately on the return leg we had to motor back from Collimer but the trip down more than made up for it.
 
Sat - left house at 0650 to collect a dinghy and drive to Coldham Hall near Norwich. Met up with 7 scouts 2 more dinghies, 2 other leaders from group and a RIB with 90HP on the back.

Launched the lot.

Scouts sailed in race from CH to Buckenham. Pint (leaders) then sailed back.

RIB was tested as safety boat /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Home just before 1800 for a curry.

Sun - brownie points galore as I stripped all the woodchip wallpaper from our bedroom walls. We have been in house nearly 13 years and last room to be decorated /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Non boat ownership can be fun too - but not for too long.

And huge well done to Vreny who picked up a second in the Stella class. And she did all this with a baby strapped into the cockpit! Amazing achievement!
 
Great weekend...best fun I've had with my clothes on for ages. Took about 200 pics so will post some on here when I've sorted them out.

When the wind died yesterday afternoon we anchored off the beach near St Peters chapel in the Blackwater. Would have been perfect but for endless planeing past, sometimes in droves.
Made up for it listening to the cricket though, boating in the sunshine and Test Match Special, looking forward to is is what keeps me going through the winter!

Just made a re-assesment of my weekend. Initially I had been disappointed as I wanted to get some miles in. However...
Got to the boat too late on Friday to do anything, so continued my son's musical education by introducing him to the Blues Brothers.
Saturday morning, no wind - finished watching the film. Joe played in his 5 euro dinghy with the 20 euro paddles. Eventually went and did some wind assisted drifting in the sunshine spoilt only by the occasional 'can we start the engine' requests.
Came back to the marina and fiddled for a couple of hours - fixed the second solar vent which got flooded by sea water on the way to Oostende.
No ticket to play on Sunday - trying to sell all my wife's possessions at a car boot sale!
So, yes, a brilliant weekend.
 
Where the justice. My dad's hobby was course fishing. I got to carry his fishing tackle up muddy paths and sit in the rain covered in ground boat as a child. lol

Sounds like a top weekend though Mr T. I love those unexpected unforgettable moments.
 
I think I must have unofficially joined in on Saturday morning on the up wind leg of one of the races, kept to the LHS of the course and was lying about 9th going round the first mark!! before we shot off down to West Mersea, had a fantastic sail 8.7knt best speed.
