Whaoa!! What\'s happening?

When SWMBO and I set off on the bumpy ride back to Brighton from Dartmouth on Thursday, the telly was working fine (i.e. we had watched it the previous evening).

When we arrived in Brighton that afternoon, my wife turned the tv on to see her daily dose of Noel Edmonds, ALL THE WRITING ON THE SCREEN WAS BACK TO FRONT! The picture was still the right way up and the sound was ok. What could cause this? I refrained from turning the arial the other way round (because that would have made me look stupid!) and I even wondered if the electrical polarity had got reversed somehow ( but posing this question out loud would have made me look twice as stupid), but I am completely baffled how it could happen. I've never seen this effect on any of our telly's at home. Can anyone tell me how to get it going in the right direction again please?

Hi Sailorman, the reversal happened in spite of being immediately re-tuned on our arrival. I at least managed to eliminate that possibility!

You have passed through the nodal point of the space time continuum and are now your boat is becoming newer and you are becoming younger.

Hi Ron cant help you with the TV problem I'm afraid. Just noticed that you've sold the flybridge for a sports cruiser?

Can I asked what prompted the change of style (and drives I guest assuming the 350 was shafts) .............and by the way did you get wet coming back from Dartmouth, cos you didnt have an inner helm any more?

Re: Whaoa!! What\'s happening?

Hi Clive, nice to hear from you. Heather and I decided that whilst we enjoyed the 350 Statesman, we found that we always drove her from the flybridge as the saloon was very noisy and uncomfortable underway, and that meant we were always at the vaguaries of the British weather....and you know what that means. Also we were uncomfortable with the fact that if one or other left the flybridge for a 'comfort break' or something, the remaining helmsman was never quite sure whether the other was still on board or not. This doesn't happen in a sports cruiser. Also, when going astern into a pontoon, Heather couldn't see either of the stern quarters, but she can in the new boat.

We also wanted to 'upgrade' to a newer boat (Perle Noire was 1992 and Imagine is 2004/5) and we find that the cockpit arrangement on the S34 is much, much more social than the flybridge as everybody is together in the same place.

We are happy with the sterndrives and the engine access is much better, and I think we're getting more mpg (not that we were unhappy with the shafts), and anyway when we did our training with you it was on the Gobbi which had sterndrives.

We have just spent three weeks on board the S34 and have been very happy with her, although as always there is never quite enough storage...

And. no we didn't get wet coming back from Dartmouth although there was plenty of water flying about as we had the front covers up and were 'snug as a bug in a rug'!
