Anyone had problems wiring a Whale Supersub 650 bilge pump?

The pictures below shows the existing old system which had a Rule float switch and 650 seperate bilge pump 'and worked no problem' but I do not know how old they are hence the change.

For those that do not know the Supersub has the water level detector built into it in the nose cone.

The one picture shows the existing old float switch removed from bilge (sitting ontop of the header tank) with two black wires from it going to the wiring block, one added to the yellow wire from the bilge pump and the other to the middle on its own..

The pump wires are the yellow one and the brown one.

The second picture shows the new wires from the Supersub to the existing power supply which unfortunatly has 'two red wires' and one brown and we know the brown is the negative wire.

In the bottom picture the red wire with blue tape around was the centre wire of the old system

If we plug the white wire into the brown negative it blows a fuse evertime
The supersub wires are marked + & - & Manual Switch from manufacturer
.
At present I get the 'supersub' running continuly operating which ever I select on the bilge pump control switch either in Auto or manual, in off position nothing???
Any bright ideas appreciated as I am not an electrician!.

Id forget the old pump and float switch and how they were wired.

Presumably you have a 3 position switch:. Manual ON, OFF ,and Auto

Identify the negative wire and the connections to the switch and simply wire the new pump as shown in the wiring diagram for the Supersub smart 650 model in the instructions

http://www.whalepumps.com/documents/cmcc_supersub_182.02_updates_8jun09.pdf (page 4)

My guess would be that the old pump and float switch were wired as is shown for the Supersub 500 Automatic system

Connect the black wire to negative !

connect the white wire to the connection which is live when the switch is set to manual. That previously had a wire from the pump and a wire from the float switch on it ....plain red wire

Connect the brown wire to the connection that is live when the switch is set to auto. That previously just had a wire from the old float switch connected to it. ... red wire with black stripe and blue tape.
