SWMBO and I visited Vaughans in Weymouth, its along the front, just down from the HM office before the bridge. Very tasty meal and good friendly service even though they had a large party arrive during our meal.

As for Poole - we went to the same place twice - Alcatraz which is a short walk up the high street from the quay.
Italian menu with good and helpful service, they made a special dish for one of us.

If you are ever in Poole try the Guildhall taven, it has to be one of the best fish restaurants on the South Coast. Booking for the weekend essential.

Storm is a little seafood restaurant just up from Alcatraz and serves amazing food. It's quite small so gets very busy and is "rustic" inside rather than contemporary. Just off the Quay on the High Street opposite the Lush store.

Another vote for Alcatraz. We tend to go there a lot for birthdays and things. Lively enough without being annoyingly loud and the food is consistently good quality.

If you like Chinese, the River View, at least I think that's what it's called, just up from the new bridge, is usually reliable.
