Wet and Forget - re-waterproofing

Hello all,

A few months ago I applied Wet and Forget to my canvas cockpit cover. Since then, the amount of green algae growing has almost gone. It seems to be working well.

Should I also reapply some new waterproofing to the canvas? I use the Fabsil stuff. I did email Wet and Forget to ask their opinion. No answer!

Short answer - reproofing with Fabsil is a good idea as it also protects against UV damage.

i tend to remove the green / wash with a canvas cleaner / re proof in the summer as it’s difficult to get it dry at this time of year and Fabsil isn’t waterproof until it has dried properly. Be careful of getting Fabsil on the PVC windows as it makes them go milky

Yes, Wet-and-Forget (quat amine) can be synergistic with repellent coatings. I've tested both ways, side-by-side. Repellent coating also reduce algae by helping the canvas dry faster.
