Yes I know I should search the old threads/the web, but my internet's slow tooday, its stopped raining so I've a shedload of jobs to get on with before we head back out to sea next week and you'll give me straighter answers than the marina/yard web sites:

We had been intending to haul out at the bottom of the Rhone, but a change of cruising plans (there's a novelty for you) means we now really need to lift-out further west. Popular suggestions seem to be: San Carles/Almerimar/Smir

We need to haul for about a month during late July/Aug and will be living on board for 2-3 weeks of that period.

We'll need cheap/easily accesible flights to/from the UK whilst there.

It's a 35' long-keeler and we'll want to do all our own work.

We'll certainly need to buy antifoul, house batteries and a new liferaft, though I may buy/ship the latter from the UK; so availabilty and local-price of those too is a factor. would it be cheaper to get the antifoul before we leave Greece? Not that its cheap here anymore.

Does anyone know of any restrictions in any of the above named yards that would scupper our plans (I know Almerimar used to restrict living/working on your own boat, but gather that's no longer an issue) Whilst the price looked good (2011 rates anyway) it sounds like mossies may be a problem in San Carles, are they just spring/autumn or a year round problem? I don't really know anything about Smir, but thought that being Morrocan (almost) that prices may be better than Spain?

I'd also be interested to hear of any other suggestions west of the Balearics that might prove suitable at a competitive price

I believe you can work on your own boat in Smir, but don't know about living aboard.
You can both live aboard and work on your own boat in Sotogrande.

Direct access website seems to be down; but they are good. Don't know whether u can stay-aboard though. Google finds a few references:

Cannot recommend lift-out in Club Nautico, Denia; they want to do all the work, even charge you for parking your car!

edit: just noted your dates; August; jeez! it's hot- and many companies/shops close for the whole month. Bear this in mind for spares, etc.
