Did anyone see the Westerly ram the 1937 Gralian in the tide mill last week?

Apparently the story goes his throttle stuck and she hit at 6 knots bow on whilst Gralian was safely moored up.
The result is a big hole and sprung planks down her length.
She's now out of the water at Southwold waiting repairs.

We finished her a couple of years ago and since then she's sailed to Turkey and right round Britain with no major drama and was on her way home only to be clobbered just round the corner...

In my last boat I had the throttle come off in my hand when manouvering to get out of Stellendam Marina.

Had just done a burst of power ahead against rudder to turn the bows (long keeler so needed lots of flow over rudder) so was stuck with full throttle, singlehanded and engine cut off below decks. Managed to turn back into berth and only hit the walkway by time I had dived below to cut the engine. Alternative was to risk two right angled turns and a rocky marina wall!!

I later added an engine cut off in the cockpit!

Gralian is beautiful. Sorry for her owners.
