Whilst I was in hospital my kids decided to de-clutter the garage and unfortunately that included my Saloon Table top. The deck fitting and pedestal I still have but the diameter of the pedestal is 62mm and the fittings from Trafalgar Yacht Services (who are excellent for Westerly spares) are 60mm. I was thinking of cutting a 62mm hole in a block of wood and screwing/wood glueing this to the underside of a piece of marine ply that I cut to size. My question is how do I cut a 62mm hole, will I have to buy one of those circular saw thingies? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks,Peter.

Depends on the wall thickness of the pedestal tube but is it possible to make an extra large dowel to fit inside the tube and protrudes far enough to locate in the fitting? It might be easier to round off a lump of hardwood than find the exactly correct drill.

Failing that, is it possible to open out the bore of the TYS fitting to 62mm with the help of someone with a lathe?

As I recall on my table(Tiger)the clamps/bases are larger than the diameter of the tubes(about the 2mm you mention). I still have quite a job clamping the upper and lower fittings tight enough and have to put a couple of turns of adhesive tape on the tube ends to get it tight enough when clamped fully. The bases are an aluminium casting and take a lot of tightening to close the clamping gaps (of about 4mm on mine).
