Evening all. I'm thinking of viewing a Westerly Griffon Club. I know there weren't many made and I understand this is amongst the last few. I'm aware that Griffon's came as Mk1, Mk 2 and Club. I am aware that on the Club the fitting out was a little more basic but I'm not so concerned about that if it's in good nick.

1. Checking the WOA spec it looks as though the Club had slightly less displacement but the same ballast. Any thoughts on that? I would have thought probably not noticeable, but welcome thoughts.
2. Most of my sailing will be single handed on the NE coast of England. Any thoughts on suitability?
3. I've also noticed that the Club had a slightly reduced rig size, reduced sail area on main and genoa. Does anyone have any experience of the difference this may make?
4. I know of the keel stub problems on the initial Mk1s. Was all the necessary extra stiffening done by the time the Mk 2 and then Club came along?

Any other info anyone can give would be very much appreciated.

Not sure if you're a WOA member? If so, there's two "Boatline Members" listed for the Griffin, one for the Mk 1 and one for the Mk2. If not, it's probably worth you shelling out the few quid to join and you can then give these people a call. I am sure they will be able and willing to help.

Many thanks for that
