anyone got one or had one that would like to comment, the time has come to change my trusty hunter horizon, and quite fancy one of these.
i am paticularly interested in the twin keeler performance against the fin, and its suitability as a club racer and family cruiser.

Bought one last year, and just got back from a week cruising France and the Channel Islands. I have a fin keeler, and it was rock steady on the channel crossing despite beating all night into a six gusting seven (even with the wind blowing against spring tides). She's fast too - despite the roller furled main, making six and a half knots easily across the wind.

I've been very happy with ours over the last few months, bags of room down below for extended cruising and a joy to sail. You'll find lots of advice on Fulmars and their merits elsewhere on the forum - I asked for similar advice to yourself when we were looking for a new boat and had lots of helpful replies.

Re: Westerly Fulmar

Was on my short list when looking to buy ten years ago. After several R the Is races on fins and regular chartering on twins I found that the fin is rather tender compared with the bilge version which does slam noisily. Interior very good but do what the sea schools did: use wasted space in the quarter berth (a double? You joke!) with lockers. Cockpit layout sadly prehistoric.

I recommend you look at a Moody 31 which friends bought when gazumped on a Fulmar - and now reckon they've got a better boat. I tend to agree.
