Out of interest , a westerly dream that was being pressed wash had a two holes around the middle of the keel , water seem to go in one and out the other , can anyone explain why these holes are there , or is it just a flaw when the keel was made ?

Any pictures? Are you referring to the revamped Seahawk that was called the Oceandream?

yes it could had been a sea hawk .
sorry no photo forgot to take any before they launched it.
there was two hole say half way down the keel and just off centre off the keel , as they jet washed it one hole opened up and then water gush out of the second hole, say a foot away from the first and in line ,
for the life of me I never seen anything like it .
I would had tho the keel when made where cast ( steel pored in a mold ).
if you tap around the hole you can hear its hollow. the owner was very puzzled.
i wonder if anyone else have had a keel like this or know why the holes where there .

Interesting, although not unusual, fwiw my Centaurs keels are hollow from the centre back, later models were solid cast. Two holes in the keel seems a little odd given the material used. I know from talking to a few surveyors that the quality of Westerlys keels was never great to begin with, i know this when i removed both keels from my Centaur i used a needle descaler to clean the paint and crud off and inadvertantly ended up peeling port side keel like an onion to the point where i was shovelling up iron off the floor. Also another factor (and i'm not trying to piss off fellow Westerly owners) is if you happened to purchase a boat around the time they were going down the pan on a few occasions the build quality wasn't so great.

Does sound very strange though.

Are you talking nice neat round holes, deliberately made for some reason or gaping, irregular, WTF kind of holes?
