Morning all,

Am heavily involved in a Centaur project. The mast and boom are in a poor state and in need of tlc. Would like some advice on the best way to clean them up, can they be re-painted if so what is the best paint to use .

As always many thanks for all replies.

Baby Oil is good for general cleaning if the anodising is in a good state. However, if the mast is badly scratched it might be a better idea to paint it. On my first 'boat-with-a-lid' a Vivacity 20 I had painted the mast black using Hammerite or something similar. This was some 18 years ago; as far as I know the same paint is still there although it could do with a fresh coat. Sold that boat to a friend when I bought a Centaur (CR1279) and we are still good friends. ;)

BTW there is a Westerly Owners' group on Yahoo and in it there is a mine of information about Centaurs. My photos are still there (I think). Boat was called "Cyano". I would heartily recommend having a look at that group; some very helpful people there.
