A sailing friend of mine recently bought an old Westerly 25 which has a problem with the rudder. The whole shaft turns but the rudder doesn't, can anyone come up with a way of repairing it.

Needs a rebuild. The stock has tangs welded to it inside the rudder and probably water has got in and corroded the welds. So split the rudder moulding, repair or replace the stick and tangs and replace the blade.
