West Six10 Epoxy

Hi all,

Has anyone here used West Six10 epoxy? It's a dual extruding cartridge that fits in a standard mastic gun, and mixes in the one-off use nozzle as you dispense...

It looks ideal for the job I have to do which is to fill loads of old fitting bolt holes... Just interested in anyone else's experience

Yep, I've used it.

It's quite easy to use. I thought the mix was going to be like the normal resin/filler mix you make up when fairing / filling with epoxy. In fact, it came out as a translucent, almost clear, urine-coloured mix. It didn't slump too much but it took a while to set - just like the normal epoxy.

Would have thought it would be OK for filling bolt holes as you can force the resin in to the holes but I wouldn't leave any Six10 proud as I think it could be rather hard to sand down (I've not tried).

I've got a couple of tubes on board which I'll use in an emergency - but for general filling / fairing I'll stick to the usual stuff.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I thought. good for hole filling, which is what I have to do...

Yeah, I'm quite familiar with the West techniques and have used them over the years, but the issue of mixing up all the small batches and trying to pour stuff into the holes is a pain. This seemed to be an interesting solution. I usually finish up throwing a lot of epoxy away after the sell by date...
