have just advised that there will be no racing for the Dinghy and MFOB classes in the Regatta tomorrow, in view of the weather forecast
We have just this moment heard that due to adverse weather conditions forecast, sadly ALL WMTR sailing is cancelled tomorrow. The afternoon Water Sports will go ahead.
The fireworks display is dependent on weather conditions and if the display company consider it safe for them to fire the display, then it will go ahead as planned. Very strong Westerly winds may cause them a problem as it blows the debris over the watching crowd.
Having been Regatta Sailing Secretary for 8 years in the past, I know how much effort goes in to organising these things and what a difficult decision it must have been. I had to cancel the dinghies once due to strong winds, but I've never know it all be cancelled. A sad day.
Sorry, not my decision. I haven't been part of the Regatta Committee for three years. I merely posted as an 'interested bystander' and hoping to prevent someone from making a wasted journey tomorrow.Could this not be run on another day? Perhaps next Saturday or perhaps the Saturday after?
Disappointing but not a surprise, it's going to blow a bit!
